"Four Seasons" a Colby Studio Monday Afternoon project

Hey there!

This Summer I was fortunate enough to take part in one of the inspirational Dave Silvester of “The Colby Studio’sMondayAfternoon clubs.

Having met each other working at the same wedding a few years ago we have been meaning to collaborate sometime so this was the perfect opportunity!

Of course, neither of us do things by half so this turned into a far bigger project than we’d originally anticipated and worked as more than a Monday “day” rather than afternoon!

I had the idea of doing four different looks, loosely based around the Four Seasons and wanted to experiment with colour and texture to create wearable art! I was fortunate enough to have the amazing Marco Leonetti of Utopia with his gorgeous assistants Natalie and Samatha to be part of the glam squad.

We had four stunning models for each season: Carla as Spring, Suzanne as Summer, Victoria as Autumn and Danielle as Winter who were all amazing to work with.

Huge thank you also to our amazing creative assistant for the day, Arianna – she rocks!

Thank you finally to Dave for letting us all take over his studio but also for his guidance, advice and support in my career. I learnt a great deal from this shoot. I am fortunate to know and work with you, Dave and hope to work on more projects together in the future! J

I hope you enjoy our collection which you can see on my Facebook page!

Stay fabulous!

To cover up or not to cover up?

Hey everyone!

I hope you are having a lovely day so far!

A few of my clients have asked if I can do tattoo cover ups and the answer is YES! I am starting to do more and more and offer this from £15 for small tattoos. Larger and/or darker coloured tattoos are not a problem and are quoted for on a time basis.

Unfortunately I forgot to take before and afters after doing this on clients and as I don’t have tattoos myself, my lovely friend Pip kindly modeled for me so I could show you all what is possible.

Pip has a tattoo on each wrist and here is how they looked afterwards.

Some feedback from Pip “Hey Charlotte, just thought I would let you know the tattoo cover up has lasted really well, I had a shower this morning but didn't rub it off and then have been working all day and it only started wearing off this afternoon, but its still not completely worn off. So for a one of day like a wedding it would be perfect. My husband and children couldn’t believe it when I came home and my tattoos had disappeared!”

I can also do the treatment for other occasions i.e. important job interviews or dinners/balls; anything is possible with a little makeup magic! ;)

Let me know what you think below.

Love Charlotte x :)

A Day at the Movies!

Why hello there!

I can’t believe almost a month has gone since my last blog post!

This update is on a very cool project I recently took part in. I was invited by lovely friend and fellow Makeup Artist Donna Smith to be what is known as a “daily” Hair and Makeup Assistant on a recent Pinewood Studios production called “Our Robot Overlords”.

Donna and I met about five years ago at Kennaa Equestrian Centre where I use to ride her gorgeous horse Lucy (featured on my blog post “Recent Adventures on the Isle of Fun”. Donna and Lucy now live in Manchester and I miss them both very much!

When I got the call, I couldn’t believe it, the week before I had left my full time corporate Marketing job, and suddenly I was going to be on a film set! I would be working with Donna who was the Makeup Apprentice for the shoot, her two sisters Kate and Jenna from Florence Blu and under the wing of Chief Makeup/Hair Designer Rosie Blackmore (just look at her list of credits!)

The main job for the morning was getting the extras ready for a nightclub scene. I learnt so much including a little bit of special FXs including putting blood and sweat onto the stunt doubles. I also assisted the main makeup artists on set and even got to touch up the makeup for main actors Callan McAuliffe and James Tarquey (who were absolute sweethearts!) between takes.

The most important aspect through the whole day was continuity and consistency in the makeup and hair between takes. It was an incredibly exciting day and I learnt so much. A massive heartfelt thanks goes to all the makeup and hair team who very kindly took me under their wing and were very patient with me! I am indebted to them for helping me.

I hope there will be other films on the Isle of Man I can take part in. This has given be an amazing opportunity to get a taste of the industry which I think can only benefit the Island’s economy and creative scene.

There are a few pictures from the day on my Facebook page I hope you will enjoy. In the meantime, I’m really looking forward to seeing the film.

Hope everyone has a lovely Bank Holiday weekend, I’m working on a Wedding tomorrow morning and have a wedding makeup trial in the afternoon but I am definitely going to take some time out to relax and hope the sun comes out!

A lovely day for a photoshoot

This May I was invited to take part in something special. It was a fashion photoshoot for a new online company called “Love My Figure, Love My Fashion” at a beautiful manor house in the North of the Island. Launched by Laura Faulds, an Isle of Man based entrepreneur, the concept is simple; by using the onsite calculator, you shop by your body shape in order to find a flattering cut and style.

Self love and care are so important and I like the fact the company name has a double emphasis on "Love" :)

Since its launch a few weeks ago, I have used the site myself and chose the Smila Dress which will be very cute for a night out or a summer day. It’s our two year anniversary soon so I’m saving the dress for that! :)

Back to the shoot itself, I knew I’d have to work quickly and stay organised to make sure everything ran to plan! To prepare for the shoot, I asked Laura to send me some pictures of what she was looking for and made sure (of course!) that my kit was cleaned and prepped.

Luckily, Laura is absolutely lovely and I don’t know how she did it but she managed to keep everyone on track. She was also my first model of six on the day. All my models: Laura, Becky, Sophie, Tania, Janine and Anna, were all such sweet girls and absolutely stunning.

Talented photographer, Jack Alexander, whose blog I have stalked, ooops I mean admired for AGES captured each girl’s beauty exceptionally. I nearly had a fan girl moment when I met him but managed to contain myself. :) It is so nice to meet talented people who love what they do!

The hairdressers also did a fantastic job and one of my favourite parts of the day was meeting the other two makeup artists, Yasmin and Katie. It was great being able to chat to both of them about our mutual love of makeup! They both have a lot of experience with the film, TV and stage side of makeup so it was fantastic to hear about their experiences and to see how they worked.

All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone on the team and am really happy with how my work came across on camera. It was lovely to make new friends and create something together.

I have added some pictures of my lovely models but there will be more on Facebook soon.

Wishing you all a beautiful day!

Love, Charlotte x :)

A new chapter

Everyone has a story, but will you write it down? Are you waiting for someone to write your story for you or will you write it yourself?
This blog has been neglected, but I would really like to write my story once more. For me, and for anyone else who has a dream.

Keep reading for an insight into this funny little thing called life and my story. The highs and the lows, the ups and the downs, my present and my future as I follow my dreams and start a new chapter in my life.
